Bike Manawatu’s approach back to cycling under the the governments covid -19 guidelines

UPDATE Changes to the traffic light System from 11:59pm 25 March & 4 April 2022

Bike Manawatu has followed guidelines and done our best to implement safe procedures to allow our races to continue during these uncertain times.
We are super excited that with guidelines starting to ease we navigate our way to a new normal and are able to welcome everyone back to our races and events.

Please see an updated list of our club guidelines below.

At Red
From 11:59pm on Friday 25 March:

• There will be no limits for outdoor activities, such as gatherings and events. My Vaccine Passes must be used until 11:59pm on 4 April.
• You do not need to wear a face mask outdoors. – however if you wish to continue to wear your mask we respect your decision – Other face mask rules remain unchanged — face masks are still required in most indoor settings.
• There is no requirement to scan in or for us to have our QR code on display
• Please note we still require all riders to pre register for all of our events (no late registrations) This helps us plan for our events and communicate with riders if anything changes.
• From 11:59pm on 4 April 2022, there will be no requirement to use My Vaccine Pass. Until 4 April, where My Vaccine Passes are not used, the current restrictions remain — but after this time, the new capacity limits will apply to everyone.
• Self-isolate for 7 days if you test positive or live with someone who has Covid-19 – Please follow the public health guidelines.
• We ask that you consider everyone’s health and safety when attending our events. Thank You
• Please note until such time we get confirmation from our venues some restrictions may still apply for example Manfeild

Please note Bike Manawatu still requires all riders to pre register for our events – this has not changed – No Late Registrations 

PAST INFORMATION / GUIDELINES No longer applicable

The Delta variant has spread rapidly worldwide and is now the main variant in many countries, including NZ. It is the most transmissible variant, spreading a lot easier than the original version of the COVID-19 virus and other variants and requires additional consideration.

IMPORTANT Information to all riders, volunteers and race officials involved in our Bike Manawatu Event.
Under both RED & ORANGE traffic light settings the event is able to go ahead but there will be conditions.

Under RED

• With My Vaccine pass – Up to 100 people per gathering (based on allowing 1m2 of space per person)
• As at 4 February masks are REQUIRED for all those who are attending events or gatherings. This includes riders, workers, contractors, spectators, volunteers etc. You can take your mask off to eat, drink or exercise only.
• All Riders MUST present My Vaccine Pass – Scan our QR Codes – Wear a mask when not riding – STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK OR A CLOSE CONTACT
• All riders must pre register & pay online

Under ORANGE

• With My Vaccine pass – No Limits
• As at 4 February masks are REQUIRED for all those who are attending events or gatherings. This includes riders, workers, contractors, spectators, volunteers etc. You can take your mask off to eat, drink or exercise only.
• All Riders MUST present My Vaccine Pass – Scan our QR Codes – Wear a mask when not riding – STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK OR A CLOSE CONTACT
• All Riders must pre register & pay online

• Sport and Recreation activities are limited to groups of 100 in a defined space in an outdoor space.
• Please stay home if you are sick
• A QR code will be available for all riders, volunteers and spectators
• Social distancing is to be maintained for everyone during the event, but riders are not subject to it during the active competition part of their race.
• Masks should be worn by everyone at all times, except during the active competition
• Hand hygiene,please use sanitizer available if touching surfaces
• Cough and sneeze etiquette. Please be considerate of others and no spitting, coughing or clearing your nose in the bunch
• No cash payments will be accepted
• No late registrations on the day will be accepted
• Avoid touching surfaces & avoid sharing equipment
• No congregating pre or post event, please vacate the area in a timely manner
• No prize giving to take place under level 2 guidelines

First Trusthouse Series Race for 2021

First Trusthouse Series Race for 2021

Sunday was the first race in the North Island Trusthouse Teams Race Series for 2021.  The race took place in Alfredton over a 34 km lap – Category 1 and 2 rode 3 laps of the circuit, while Category 3 and 4 rode 2 laps of the circuit.  It is a fairly challenging circuit, which was made tougher with the strong winds and intermittent rain.

Bike Manawatu had a team each in Categories 2,3 and 4, with other Manawatu riders taking part in the WCNI team in Cat 2, Matthew Jamieson riding as an individual in category 1, the Manawatu Storage team in category 4, as well as some riders participating in the Green Performance Team in Category 2.

Matthew Jamieson placed 4^th in Category 1, after making the step up from racing in Category 2 last year – this is a fantastic result, well done Matthew.

Glenn Kirk’s WCNI team dominated the Category 2 race with Caleb Bottcher riding solo for over 1 and a half laps to take the win, with Jeremy Rowe finishing in 4^th and Glenn Kirk  in 7^th.  The Total Sheetmetals Bike Manawatu team also had some great results with Adam Francis and Sam Parry in 8^th and 9^th place.

The standout results in category 3 are from our younger members – Jackson Fellowes who is racing for the Madison Clothing team was first and  Andy Richardson finished 7^th only 11.9 seconds behind the winner – both of these young men are racing in this series for the first time.  Dave Jackson and Jackson’s dad Marcus (also racing for Madison Cycle clothing), finished in 2^nd and 3^rd.

Category 4 was a great race for our locals – Darren Murdie of the Palmfeilds Bike Manawatu team finished in a very close 2^nd (1.2 seconds), with Toshi Yamauchi riding for Manawatu storage in 3^rd place.  Patrick Johnstone and Darcy Forrester from the Palmfeilds Bike Manawatu team finished in 4^th and 10^th place, and this team is sitting 2^nd in the teams points for the series.
