The planning for the Feilding Festival Of Cycling is on track and entries for our clubs major fund raising event are rolling in.
It’s about 2 weeks to go, and the $10 late fee applies after the 7th Sept.
So we hope you will support the club and get your entry in.

From www.engadget.com – Lets hope this service comes to NZ soon, but it’s probably more useful while cycling in a foreign land anyway!
Google’s cycling directions have been slowly expanding their reach to the mobile world and other countries, but the only option for navigation so far has been to memorize the route. As of today, you won’t have to stop every five minutes to get your bearings. Google Maps for Android has received a low-key update that adds spoken, turn-by-turn Google Maps Navigation for riders in every country where biking directions exist — if you can clamp your phone to your handlebars, you can find your way.

The gravel Classic lived up to its name with a fantastic challenge to riders, a few punctures but overall the feedback from riders was really positive. We will use the track again and recommend it as a club event. Thanks to Ashhurst School parents for marshaling on the course and Ross Castle for dreaming up the track – I think we are onto something special here as the mix of road and gravel will enhance our riders overall bike handling skills. Great turnout with nearly 50 riders, this bodes well for the future of cycling in Manawatu.
A grade split up into a 2 rider race with Nate Levin and Chris Denholm battling it out alone on the last lap, with a sprint finish going to Nate, followed by a group of 3 riders 1 minute back.

Below are the finish times for the race held at Pahiatua.
A controlled start saw 41 riders heading out to the Main highway heading south towards Masterton. A brisk cool wind meant the conditions if a rider was isolated from the bunch would mean it could end up being a hard ride.
This was a sealed handicap race so nobody would tell what the final result was until all the handicaps are revealed. So congratulations must now go to Toshi who with a handicap of 12 minutes was able to take the prize for this year. Cups will be awarded at the end of year prizegiving, however prizemoney will be awarded at the end of the series of the 3 handicap races.
Special thanks to Steve Glasgow and Kevin Laskey for organising this race. Thanks also to the lead motorbike riden by Brian, marshals Steve, Jenny and Don and to Don Katrina and Catriona who helped on the finish line. Also thanks to Rebecca for being the tail vehicle.
Thanks also to Carol Roberts for organising the afternoon tea.
