It was a beautiful summer evening yesterday for the 17 riders and our amazing volunteers at Kairanga.

Firstly, a huge THANK YOU to our volunteers Sam and Laura Richardson for running the timing, Tim Lloyd for traffic management, and Alastair Cadzow, David Peel and Rachel O’Dea!
Congratulations to Liam O’Dea and Rory Hutchinson on breaking the following course records:

Liam took almost 20sec off the previous record for 14 year old boys set by Robert Stannard in 2012. Liam’s time was a blistering 17:37.6!

Rory is now the course record holder for 10 year old boys with a fantastic time of just 24:42!
It was great to see riders of all ages turn up last night. Special mention also to George Skinner who was fastest overall, Aylish Underwood who was flying on the 24km course, and new rider Jakob Abernethy who did amazing on the long course as well.
Another opportunity to race on the 12km Kairanga TT course will come up on 10th March! Mark your calendars

It was a great night for yesterday’s Manfeild Circuit Race! Thank you to Sam Richardson for running the timing, and many others for offering to help out.
The Handicap race was at hot pace! Gaps were worked out on 40,36 and 32 kph average over the three grades. However, it turns out 45, 42 and 37 is the new normal. The great thing is we now have lap times and data to get actual performance data for our individual riders. Great to see Toshi and Ash rocking up, with Ash smashing lots of personal bests. It was also fantastic to see the mentoring happening through the bunches.

It was a fantastic afternoon for our first Criterium event at the CET Arena yesterday, with 39 riders across the 4 events. We had a lot of positive feedback and are going to run a second criterium in a couple of week’s time, on Thursday 27th November, mark your calendars. Registrations will open shortly.
A shout-out to our volunteers Andy and Sam Richardson, Jo Coxon, Jonathon Hannon and Tim Lloyd, and to all those riders who have not participated in our events before and gave the criterium a go. We hope to see you again at our upcoming events.
Unfortunately the brief rain interfered with the Open Men’s race. In the future we may change the course layout depending on weather conditions. We are also going to split the Men’s event into two separate races, A grade and B grade, as long as registration numbers allow.
Next up, on Tuesday 18th November is the Manfeild Circuit Race. This will be run as a Handicap race. Please pre-register here, https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=409918, and remember to bring your race number if you have been issued one.

Next up are a couple of very exciting events:
A new Criterium event at the CET Arena on Thursday 13th November: https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=410960
Manfeild Circuit Race on Tuesday 18th November: https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=409918
Entries for both events are open and we encourage you to enter early to help us with the planning. Due to the low numbers of entries at our events it has become very difficult to run quality graded races. Therefore, the Manfeild Circuit race will be a Handicap Race, and both the Criterium and Manfeild events will see a separate Women/Girls Only category.

We commend the nine hardy riders who braved the wind and the rain at last night’s time trial at Kairanga!!! Highlights include Annemarie, Aylish and Andy pushing through 2 laps in tough conditions, and the fact that the majority of the field were female riders, with three of them from the Peel family.
A huge Thank You goes out to our volunteers on the night: Jonny and David Peel, Ross O’Dea, Sam and Laura Richardson for running the timing, and Tim Lloyd for setting everything up.
