Well it all started in a hiss & a roar, a new age in Endurance cycling—the Young bucks have arrived & are keen to boogie. Got to be good for the Sport with this new interest, but heh !!—not so good for the almost OAP cyclist.
Once the group of 8 starters (from 11 entrants) reached the Grove road bridge, attack after attack seemed to be the *order* of the day. I joined in the *games* with caution, hell we’d only ridden about 15k, and still had 485k to go.
The Christie250, which started as one man’s challenge to knock a cycle ride to Taupo off his “bucket list” before he died, has turned into an annual cancer fundraiser for a group of 19 cyclists who will tackle the route for the third time in April.
Businessman Mike Christie has collected a group of friends and cycling enthusiasts who didn’t want the first 250km ride to be the last.
WHY? Many athletes use Pilates for ‘Core Strength’ and to refine the precise use of their body. Pilates is particularly recommended for Cyclists as cycling causes overuse in mobilising muscles and underuse in deep stabilising muscles, creating muscle imbalances that affect your performance and recovery.
