Wanganui Road Race – Easter Saturday

If you are looking for some racing action this weekend and are too old for the TeA tour ….

Cycling Wanganui have a club race around the Kai iwi Circuit, starting at Bason Reserve. A map and full details are on their websitehttp://cyclingwanganui.org.nz/

Having raced with them 2 weeks ago, it was fun and enjoyable racing in a new location.  They have lots of masters riders with racing grades to suit all abilities and they are very welcoming to out-of-towners.

If you have never club raced before or want to get some racing in before the Club Road Nationals, I would highly recommend making the trip.

The circuit is 22kms around.

A Grade – 4 laps
B Grade – 2 laps
C Grade – 1 lap

The entry fee for non-members is $12.

If anyone wants a ride (and doing B or C grade), I have room for 1 or 2 people. Text me 027 289 3444 (Megan)

Saturday Club race and Seniors Club champs

It was hot calm conditions on Saturday for the club road champs.

With the distances for Club nationals in Queenstown as a deciding factor for the distances to be raced for club champs it was a chance for the junior riders who were not competing for champs but planning on going to Queenstown to test their legs over the distances required.

Thanks to the helpers on the day Colin Huston as marshal on the tricky Watershed Corner assisted partly by Cameron Howell and Britteny Baker and Dileep Rajapakse on the Colyton corner.

Our finish line recorders and judges did a marvellous job of keeping track of just how many laps each person had completed. Thanks to Rebecca Denholm, Alison Kinghorn and Rebecca Ransom who sat in the sun and waited for the very last rider to come through.

Thanks also to Harison King horn who helped pack up the signs at the end of the day.

Age grouping results will be calculated at a later point in time for end of year prizegiving.

All members who renewed or purchased memberships from the period November 2012 – January 2013, should now have their membership cards.  We are aware of some cases where cards have been unable to be delivered due to incorrect or incomplete postal addresses. We have contacted these members directly to update their details.  If you have not received a card, please log into your portal and check that your correspondence address is correct, and that your personal details are up to date.

Members who have renewed or purchased membership from February onwards will not have received cards yet. We will secure a new card provider next week, and expect production of cards to begin again within days of the agreement being finalised.

Members can rest assured that their memberships are active and current. Please remind your club members that they check the status of their membership online by logging in to BikeNZ.org.nz. Membership number, and a receipt or screen shot can continue to be used as proof of membership in lieu of cards.
