The first event of the series was a rime trial with both a short and long course on offer. This was an all comers event and it was nice to see a few new faces as well as some old faces returning to the racing scene.
Special thanks to all of the helpers. Graeme Ransom, Rob Gardner and John Arbuckle out on the course and Stu McKenzie and Chris Croton on the start and finish line.
Next weeks race details will be sent out on Thursday to all that are receiving the race updates as well as all those that took part in this event.
The first race for the season will be held this Saturday. It is an all comers (new riders welcome) time trial. So if you have done a time trial at Kairanga on Wednesday night last season but never done a club Saturday event this will be a great way for you to see what Saturday racing is all about.
The times set will also be used to help set grades for the rest of the season and select teams for the upcoming WCNI Team Time trials that will be held in Rongotea on Saturday 2nd August.
There is a short and a long course and at registration you will be asked which course you wish to do.
There is no entry fee this week so there should be nothing holding you back so come and give it a go. The course starts on the corner of Pyke Rd and State Highway 56 at Rangiotu and carries on along Pyke Rd and on to Bainesse Rd and back to the start point. There is plenty of parking available.
If you want to receive an email each week reminding you what is on then click here and you will be added to the reminder list.
As advised in the December 2013 Presidents Newsletter / Technical Update, the Maximum Roll-out Distance for Junior U17 Riders increases to 7.0 metres for both Road and Track cycling disciplines, as from 1 July 2014.
Firstly I’ll apologise for my lack of updates the last few months as it’s been hectic as always and every time I planned to sit down and put pen to paper to finish it off something else becomes a priority.
Since the last update I have had some good battles and results in the Japanese Keirin League racing in the cities of Omiya, Chiba, and Maebashi. It was great travelling to these tracks with the German Stefan Botticher as he is a true East German where everything has to be absolutely perfect and to the point. Living in Japan and sharing a room with Stefan has definitely made me even more OCD, which I hope is a good thing, because to be the best you really do need to make sure you account for all those 1% gains.
