Thanks for completing our Survey.

Dear BM members and prospective members,

Thanks to all who contributed to the strategic direction of Bike Manawatu by completing the questionnaire.  This sort of membership input is much valued by the Board, and it serves to keep us in touch with the thoughts and needs of riders.

We are in the process of compiling and analysing the results, and we will use these to help us decide things like; what our future events might look like, how we can best communicate with the membership, and how might we best invest our time and money to best benefit Manawatu cyclists.

Thanks and take care,

Steve Stannard

PNCC want to fix problems on roads…..

But you have to let them know where the problem is. The problem could be glass on the road to a pot hole in a cycle lane. Currently there are 2 methods of notifying them of a problem. Firstly there is the 0800 number. 0800 itdyup. And now PNCC have a free app called FIXiT.  fixit

FIXiT App

Use the FIXiT Smart phone app to report issues or damage to Palmerston North City Council.

The free App allows you to take a photo, tag the location on a map and leave a description of the problem. The request is then logged with Council’s Contact Centre and the appropriate staff notified of the issue. Once logged in the system the person who sent the request will receive an acknowledgement.

FIXiT PNCC is available via the Apple App Store (iPhone) and Google’s Play Store (Android).

Jim Mason Cup There are many people involved in Bike Manawatu who are not members of the club as such but contribute to the club in various ways either because they are passionate about cycling or have children or family members involved in cycling. And it is important that we recognise and acknowledge the support and contribution of these people. This club wouldn’t be where it is today without the volunteers that give up their time to stand on the side of a road as a marshall, give their input into organising events, taking photos for the website or helping at registration or start/finish lines.

HUGHES FAMILY TROPHY is awarded to the Best All Round Club Member, not judged only on cycling abilities but also for commitment and contribution to helping the club in other areas.

Black Memorial trophy is awarded to the club rider for his attitude towards the club, racing performance and promoting the sport.  Last year the award went to John Stewart.

Nominations are now open and will close on Monday18th August at 3pm.

If you think of any one who is deserving of an award please nominate them be sending an email with the details to secretary@bikemanawatu.co.nz

Farewell Drinks at Hotel Coachman for Matthijs and Janneke

Matt and Janneke have contributed such a lot to cycling in the Manawatu in the time that they have been here. Sometime ago we were told that they would be departing from the district and heading overseas.

The house has been sold and soon they will be all packed up and leaving. So on Friday night (1st Aug) at Hotel Coachman from 7pm we will be having a gathering to say our final farewells and to wish them all the best for the future. If you would like to join us you would be most welcome.

No RSVP required just show up.

Results–Pahiatua graded handicap Saturday 26th July

Pahiatua has always been a popular course and with a great turnout of riders the grades were able to have good number in each of them. The handicapper had his work cut out for him but the overall result showed just what a good job he did.

A special thanks to Kevin Laskey for organising the volunteers for the day as well as the facilities and checking the course. Thanks to all of the volunteers including my little helpers at registration and Alison Kinghorn for recording the results.

The D grade riders were first to go, followed 8  minutes back by C grade and a further 10 minutes to B grade. B+, A and A+ all left within 3 mins of each other.
