Just over 40 kids took part in this years Scool Cycling Camp. This years camp venue Rathkeale College. The goal of the camp is to get some riding in, to get some extra on riding skills and to get to know each other all while having a good time.

For the riders there were two options 115 km all the way from Palmie to Rathkeale or to start at Rongomai for a 60 km trip. The 115km lot was split in two bunches one bunch escorted on the bike by Mike McRedmond, Luke McCarthy and Geoff Russell the second buch by KenYoung.

Schools training 27 February 2011

Schools training 27 February 2011

instruction by Denise Brown With the older more experienced riders assembling at memorial park for a bunch ride the younger riders assembled at the Feilding velodrome for their first training.  Denise Brown provided a great work out thoroughly enjoyed by all. Starting with some confidence building with learning to follow wheels and bike handling skills on the grass the training was finished with some competitive elements. It was nice to see the riders had good support form their parents. Next week Sunday 6 march The older riders will assmeble at memorial park at 8.30 am for a bunch ride and the younger ones at Feilding Velodrome at 8.30 am.

Sundays program 27 February 2011

image School cycling Manawatu 2011 kicked off last Sunday 20 February. We joined the combined Bike Manawatu ride and race with the social function afterwards in the Ashhurst School Hall. This Sunday 27th of February we will be at two locations.

  • young starter riders will assemble and ride / train at the Feilding Velodrome at Johnston Park in Feilding at 8.30 am for directions http://www.aatravel.co.nz/main/listing.php?listingId=82553
  • the others will assemble at Memorial Park 8.30 am and go fimageor a bunch ride from there. This group split in to 3 sub groups based on ability. The thought is to divide the groups in the same way as we are going to do for the ride to Rathkeale for school camp 19/20 March. Beware  you have to be self sufficient for punctures.
