Kairanga Mothers Day ITT

Solid turn out to the Kairanga ITT on Mothers day. There was a 24 km option available which was contested by 4 riders with Jaro setting the bench mark of 36.29.

32 riders tackled the 12km out and back with Winston Briggs fastest on the day with a 16.49. The easterly breeze catching a few riders out on the way home.

Great to see so many families turning up and competing or volunteering, cementing the fact that cycling is a sport for all ages.

Fantastic news came from Manawatu District Council with our successful application for funding to support our Traffic Management application costs.

Every plan we submit has a price tag for processing and now , with the successful funding application done by Janina, we can now return to the $10 entry fee for all adults.

Every club is always finding ways to navigate the financial obstacles and Bums on seats as well as higher memberships are critical.

Taonui Loops on Sunday, weather is looking ok at this stage. Enter if you are available and if the race is cancelled due to weather the fee is carried over, unfortunately the TMP application is still absorbed.

Manfeild 6 hour the week after. This time next week we will be praying for fine weather

Weekly wrap

Great start to the reboot of the cycling calendar last Sunday May 4th with a flat graded Road race at Glen Oroua. 4 grades with Club and schools riders joining up to make for some great racing. This year we are implementing a mentor system to support our junior riders as the learn their trade in cycling, and this will show benefits with skill and safety as they continue in the sport.

This Sunday we have the Mother’s Day ITT starting at a later time of 11.00 at Kairanga. Time to treat our mums and still have a competitive outing before Lunch. Number pick up and bathrooms are at the school and a rolling briefing will be at the start line opposite the Horizons yard. Self seeding with faster riders going last.

There a 24 km option available and they will start from 10.45.

Weather is looking great for Sunday. Enter on webscorer with links on our Facebook page

A rare fundraiser please – Last day to order today!

As many of you are aware, Strat Ellingham had a nasty accident on his bike ride and has been in Burwood hospital for a while now. He is making good progress and is even more dedicated to this than he was training on his bike for world champs.

In order to raise some funds to support him a bit, Pedal Cartel have kindly launched the Strat Man socks.

Who NEEDS new Socks, we ALL wear them & they ALL wear OUT, please consider purchasing some & assist in just some of the many expenses Strat has in front of him while he recovers at Burwood Hospital.
Strat is a very quiet gent, with a heart of Gold. He like many others opted out of his Comfort Zone & joined in with the Team Hughes Joinery cyclists in 2019 & rode the 100th Taupo Cycle Challenge TWO lap ENDURO with around 70 others.
Thanks Heaps for any assistance.
