Jesse Sergent takes silver at World Track Champs

Jesse Sergent in the men’s 4000m individual pursuit at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. (photoGerry McManus) Jesse Sergent won the silver medal in the men’s 4000m individual pursuit at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands a repeat from his world championships performance in Copenhagen last year.

The ride off for gold was a copy of the Commonwealth Games final where he also came up against top qualifier Jack Bobridge. It was the same tactics for the slightly built Australian, who used his speed to open a telling gap of two seconds within the first kilometre. Bobridge clocked 4:21.141 to claim the title with Jesse Sergent two and a half seconds back taking the Silver medal.

The Powerco Cycle Tour of Taranaki is a stage race held over Queens Birthday weekend Saturday 4th June,Sunday 5th June, Monday 6th June 2011. Entry is open to all BikeNZ 2011 licence holders. Welcome to the 2011 RaboDirect National Club Road Cycling Champs. In just a matter of weeks riders throughout New Zealand will have the opportunity to experience racing at its best in the fabulous Wanganui region on both ITT and road racing courses. Our thanks must go to the Wanganui Cycling Club whose industrious endeavors have made this National Championships possible.
