Bike Manawatu Pursuit Championships 3rd February 2011

A threatening sky a cool track and a westerly wind ensured that track records would be difficult to break tonight. The pursuit is a solo ride over distance with the aim to build up to race pace then hold that pace to the end. An event that requires special self discipline as there is nowhere to hide.

While the prize money for broken records was secure in the Bike Manawatu vault the $25 rookie prize for a first year track rider for setting a time closest to a current record was awarded to Ruby Perry.

Wednesday ITT summer series round 2

The windy conditions may have slowed the times from Week 1 but they didn’t deter the enthusiasm of the riders for the second round of the Wednesday Night ITT series this week. And proving the point that cycling really is an activity for the whole family, the competition for the early lead on the points table is a two-way battle between the Stannard and Denholm families. Despite posting a very competitive time of 17:16 in the friendly conditions in Week 1, Steve Stannard went 5 seconds better with the second fastest time of the night (17:11). (more…)

Wednesday ITT summer series round 1

First round of the 2011 Wednesday night tt summer series saw a good turnout. The good weather conditions made it perfect to set a good time to beat in the rounds to come. A reminder to all the number you got will be your number for the whole series. If you loose your number make something your self at a peace of paper or so you also can just tell the start and finish your number! If we do not get your number we can not work out your time. Great to see so much support out there that makes running the event a breeze.
