Give Way rules are changing for all road users

At 5am on Sunday 25 March, two of the give way rules are changing to make New Zealand’s roads safer.
It’s important for cyclists to be aware of the changes so visit www.giveway.govt.nz for more information.

When you’re turning right from the bottom of a T-intersection
with no signs or signals, you will need to give way to all vehicles
at the top of the T.
So at all T-intersections and driveways, including public driveways
such as at a supermarket or hospital, think ‘Top of the T goes
before me’.

If you’re turning right, give way
This rule will apply at intersections where two vehicles are facing
no signs or signals, or the same signs or signals. You will need to
give way to left turning vehicles coming from the opposite direction
if you are turning right.

Results Wednesday time trials week 6

Although the day was warm and there was only a breath of wind at 4pm in Palmerston by the time I got out to Kairanga the wind was picking up and the temperature was dropping.

Being tucked away out of the wind inside taking registrations meant that I was completely unaware of how much the wind had picked up by 6pm. And thoughts of doing a PB were dashed.

Thanks to the marvellous helpers who again turn up week after week. Without these people the event would not be able to be run. This week we had Paul Roberts on the turn with Kirsty Kaihau, Denise Brown, Carol Roberts and Dave Bleakley doing the recording. Holding on the start line was Grant Shearman. So a special thank you to you all for your continued support.

A reminder that Club Time trial champs that were postponed last Saturday will be held this Saturday 11th March. Please preregister by sending an email to secretary@bikemanawatu.co.nz by Friday 4pm. Please state age group in email. Look at the calendar for more details.
