Quiz tickets still available

What is the common name given to Agathis Australis?  Name a famous example.

Answer Kauri – Tane Mahuta.

2 points,  one for each part of the question.

So if you have been reading the quiz section in the Manawatu Standard lately or the Feilding Herald you might know a few of the questions and answers already.

Other questions are being supplied by a few of the young riders that have been supported by Bike Manawatu this year.

This is a fundraising venture with all of the money raised going to the Rider Development Fund. This fund has been set up to support junior riders to attend national and international events.

Tables of 6 people make up a team and nibbles are on each table to munch on as you ponder the answers to the questions.

If you haven’t got your table of 6 sorted yet, don’t worry there are still a few tables left. Quiz will be held at Marist Clubrooms, Pascal St on Friday 25th July. Doors open (and bar) at 7pm with quiz starting at 7.30pm.

Either give Joanne Stewart a call on 354 9721 or Glenys Taylor on 3289 862 or txt 021 260 5536 to reserve your table.

Paul van Velthooven – Resigned to the fact I should resign

Fellow club members,

For the meantime my Bike Manawatu journey must come to an end.

I have developed a slow leak and the peloton is moving too quick to stay on.

I hate being dropped but tomorrow is another day.

On advice at many levels, my energy needs to be conserved as I confront and beat my next challenge.

So it is with a heavy heart that I resign from the Board.

It is a heavy heart because there are still so many good things ahead for Bike Manawatu.

And the Board has been and will be integral in setting the strategies for our members going forward.

We are the most progressive club in the country and that will continue, of that I am convinced.

All the best for the future.

Regards

Paul van Velthooven
