Over the last few weeks, spammers have been trying to get registered on our club website so they can post advertising (and other junk) in our new forums.
Despite having put additional levels of security on the registration page, they are still at it!
So I have temporarily disabled new registrations.
As you know, registration on the website is only for financial members of the club, so if anyone wants to get registered so you can login and access the members only area and the forums, please send me an email and I’ll do it for you…

Hi After various problems with the old forum, I’ve decided to change to a more sophisticated type of forum product.
I hope it proves to be a bit more reliable 🙂
One unfortunate side affect is that there is no way to migrate all the old forum posts over… so while they are not gone, they cannot be easily accessed. Sorry!
Feel free to try it out. Remember that only members who have registered on the website can post to the forum.

No not the real one… The virtual one!
Graeme Davies came in 3rd, with Vaughan Hunt just sneaking past Bryce Marshall on the final stage for 7th and 8th respectively.
If you haven’t tried managing your own hand picked team why not give the Critérium du Dauphiné 2011 a go as a practice before the big one (Le Tour). You have 2 days before the team selection closes.

After quite a period with the BikeManawatu Banner at the top of the website blank… banner ads have returned.
There are 3 club sponsors:
- Inspire.net – who provide reduced cost website hosting. Their banner is always shown as that is part of our sponsorship arrangement
- PedalPushers – who sponsor our weekly lucky prize draw at the Sunday ride.
- PN Marist – who provide us with use of their clubrooms.
The banner ads are displayed randomly each time a webpage is loaded, and a counter tracks the number of times the banner is displayed and the number of time someone clicks through to the sponsors site.
Happy Clicking!!!

Well you can manage your own team in the major cycle races of the year.
Some of my mates and I have been competing virtually at www.virtualbikerace.com creating our own league.
Described by it’s creators as:
Virtual Bike Race is the ultimate in Fantasy Cycling Websites. Pick your dream team from your favourite riders in the ProTour and challenge your friends and family. Take on the role as Directeur Sportif (Sporting Manager), making transfers throughout the race, but keeping within the team budget.
Competition for the Giro are already under way, but you have 3 days to select your team before the start of the Tour of California. You have 5 transfers available and 1 more each stage, so you can change your team according to rider form.
Good Luck!
