Knights Night

On 11th November this year, 11/11/11, Marist Sports Awards will be presented at a special function. Bike Manawatu will have a number of nominations in various categories this year. Being affiliated to Marist Sports Club means that all of our members can be invited to this prestigious event. The guest speaker for the night is a “Sir”  which means that he has been knighted.

Resignation of Board Member

It is with regret that the Board received the below correspondence from Andrew Ward at its meeting last night.

In the short time that Andrew has been a member of the Board he has made a valuable contribution. Steps are now under way to appoint according to the constitution a replacement for Andrew.

Exciting news – International event coming to the Manawatu

NZ Cycle classic

At a media conference held at the Rugby Institute at Massey University today, Jorge Sandoval, along with Mike Daisley, CEO Sport Manawatu, Jono Naylor, mayor of PNCC, and Lance Bickford, CEO Destination Manawatu announced that for the first time in the 25 year history of the UCI Mens Cycle Classic tour, it will be held in the Manawatu.

The 5 day event is being renamed the New Zealand Cycle Classic and is scheduled for 25 – 29 January 2012.

Exciting race on this Saturday–Essex Cup

Just to let you know in case you haven’t had a look at the calendar for this week we are holding the Essex Cup on Saturday.
 
Ian Gray has been out this morning and riden the course. He has informed me that the metal section of the road is in very good order so shouldn’t cause any problems.
 
The Essex Cup is an open handicap race. Ian Gray along with Mark Waterland are doing the handicapping so you need to have your entries to me by Friday morning please.
 
There is $400 in prizemoney up for grabs.
Registration is from 1pm at Ashhurst.
