BOP Coast ‘n’ Country Cycle Challenge

Event day is Sunday 4th May 2014. This event has been  very well received over the last couple of years and many that have participated are looking forward to having another crack at it this year. For 2014 we are riding the original direction from 2012 (Whakatane to Mt Maunganui), there is still a 100km and 50km option and  the 50 Km Secondary School Challenge option. Additional to this we have also added the option to enter the 100km ride as a team entry (work/social/gym/bikeshop/bike club). And to help the out of towners with transport logistics we have once again organised bus shuttles. All details are on the website   www.coastncountrycyclechallenge.co.nz  (where we encourage entries to be made) and attached is a copy of the event flyer. There is advertising in the NZ Road Cyclist Magazine and flyers are also at many bike shops. Once again there are some awesome Cannondale bikes up for grabs at prizegiving. There will be one road bike and one non-road bike

Track POSTPONEMENT DATES

Night of the Stars is now going to start at 12.00pm Sunday 9th February entry from 11.00am.

WCNI Track Champs will now be held next Sunday 16th February at Wanganui starting at 11.00am

Start of 2014 Wednesday time trial results week 1

With a warm night (and of course a breeze ) the night was set to be a good one. New riders enlisted to take on the challenge of improving their times each week. Horizons yard is appreciated as a great assembly point off the road for everyone to congregate in and for parents to park and have a catch up.

Thanks go to the helpers – new ones are being trained and take on the roles easily. Rob does an outstanding job at the turn and I hope all the riders manage to thank him for standing out there when they go around the turn.

Results for the first week can be viewed here. All riders get 2 points for the first night so they haven’t been sorted to any order just in number order.

See you all next week and don’t forget to tell your friends that it is not too late to join in and get maximum points for the series.

PS. The wind did drop to nothing by the time the last rider was off. TOTAL of 29 riders for first night. Can we make it to 61 like we did last season – only the weather will decide.

Carnival Racing

Denton Park, Christchurch

Hello Team,
The New Year has brought some great results and good fortune at the Denton Park track racing in early January and also the last Track Cycling World Cup in Guadalajara.

It was a great pleasure to be able to race at Denton Park because you hardly ever seem to be able to ‘relax’ during any racing and enjoy yourself with the others around you.
The Christchurch Carnival is superbly run and offers emerging NZ riders a great chance to compete with current National riders and see how they measure up.

Ride to the NZCT Cycle Classic’s final KOM

Ride to the NZCT Cycle Classic’s final KOM

This week’s Sunday rides will offer something different… ride up to the top of the Pahiatua Track and be at the KOM point when the NZCT Cycle Classic goes past. Sport Manawatu will be putting on Coffee and Muffins for all.

Don’t miss the opportunity to grab a free coffee and something to eat at a special spectator viewing spot on the Pahiatua track. But you have to do some work first. Meet at Memorial Park at 8am for the normal Sunday ride then those that want to will head off on a circuit that will take them up the Pahiatua track where you will stop and grab a coffee compliments of Sport Manawatu and cheer on the tour participants as they pass on the final stage. Then after they have passed you will be able to casually ride down the track back to Palmerston North.
