PNBHS was eventually to take second place in the teams events competition at the conclusion of North Island Secondary Schools Cycling Champs. Having won the competition in Jul in Cambridge, BHS have continued to display some good all round form across a number of the grades. They were disappointed to finish fourth in the team time trial event and they were only beaten by one second for third by Christchurch BHS. We certainly had high hopes that the boys were going to do it this time but it was not to be, said Howard Pinder, the BHS cycling coordinator.

The coaching and Managers Working Group has posted to the Bike Manawatu web a survey that seeks to determine the exact needs of members from a coaching perspective.
We would appreciate if you would take a moment to complete the survey. Click here to take survey
The working Group can then use the data to determine priorities and how we might develop our technical capacity to deliver quality coaching to riders.

The time trial series starts very soon. Owning a time trial bike is not a necessity but wanting to see if you can improve your time over a 12km course will be helpful.
Come out to Kairanga School on Kairanga-Bunnythorpe Road on starting Wednesday 12 Oct.

I noted the other day that it is highly likely that the Manawatu Gorge will remain closed for at least another 6-8 weeks, worse case it could be even longer.
The ramifications of this are already understood by Bike Manawatu but the closure will continue to present a dilemma for those who like to use the Saddle Road and the Pahiatua Track as training routes.
We have advised for the safety of riders, and will continue to advise, riders to select alternative hill climbing routes until the Gorge is re-opened.
A ride out to Highland Home and Valley Road are probably a suitable alternative, if not the Apiti Loop.
