This is an amazing oppourtunity for all year 7 and 8 riders. All you need to do is turn up and ride as many Wednesday night time trials and track meetings (club track racing and road bikes on track count, but we will only give you points for one track event each week). If the event is cancelled by the organiser, no points will be awarded for that particular event.

So make sure you attend as many of the following dates as possible…

TT-  Wednesday 13/10, 21/10, 28/10, 4/11, 11/11, 18/11, 25/11

Track- Sunday 18/10, 25/10, 1/11, 8/11, 15/11, 22/11, 29/11

Winner will be announced at the final track meet before Christmas on 20th December 2015.

The ride and lunch will be with Robert Stannard (Junior Road World’s TT and Road race), Michaela Drummond (Junior World Team Pursuit World Champion) and Campbell Stewart (Double Junior World Champion). So don’t miss this great oppourtinity to ride and lunch with some of the best junior riders in this region!

GOOD LUCK!!

Road bikes on track

Road bikes on track will kick off Sunday 18th October, 1:30pm at Johnston Park, Feilding before track racing. For the first two weeks it will be run on Sunday (18th & 25th October), we will then evaulate whether it stays on Sunday until Christmas or if we move to Monday evenings.

Greg Bryan has run Road bikes on track for 6 years very successfully, with this being his last year we are looking for someone to take over running this. Therfore whether it is held on a Sunday or a Monday will be dependant on what suits the organiser and also the riders.

Caters for: ALL ages, mainly attracting primary to high school aged people.

Equipment requirements: Any sort of bike (BMX, mountain bike or road bike) covered shoes and a helmet.

Cost: Gold coin donation to contribute to spot prizes at the end of year.

Location: Johnston Park Velodrome, Feilding

When? Runs over the summer months (October to March), on either Sunday afternoons or Monday evenings.

Keep an eye out for the season programme on the BikeManawau website under ‘Track Cycling’ or the Facebook group ‘BikeManawatu Track nights’ and just rock up to racing.

This is a great introduction to track racing, as you get used to the track, rules, racing and etiquette without having to worry about using the ‘different’ track bike. We encourage riders from this group to come along to one of our track ‘have a go’ days to try out a track bike.

Helpers required for Track ‘Have a go day’

On Saturday October 4rd at 1:30pm we require some helpers for our ‘have a go day’ in Feilding.

It is always good to have a few people bring their track bikes to guide people around the track, some people changing seat heights, some yarning about how it all works and encouraging people to come along to our meets.

It’s normally a fun, rewarding day. If you are keen to help please email k8.stewart@hotmail.com.
