Intermediate riders- Participate and WIN

Despite the current ‘cost of living challenges’ facing all community events, Bike Manawatu is 100% committed to ensuring the 51st year of the Novice Tour – once again provides a safe, fun, competitive cycle racing event.

We will adopt a high-quality assured approach in implementing the Local Roading Authority’s/Cycling New Zealand’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) standards which ensure best practices and rider and spectator safety.

If the level of community funding secured is not sufficient to contract in external road management service providers with the ability to stop/go traffic, the Novice Tour will proceed on a ‘local club racing’ model, whereby our team of trained/experienced road marshals will, where necessary, pause racing in order to give way to traffic and ensure rider safety.

Although funding  external road management services with the ability to stop/go traffic is ideal, if this is not feasible – we are confident that the event’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) will provide a competitive, fair, enjoyable and importantly safe racing environment.

Irrespective of which model of traffic management/racing is finalised, as with all CNZ/Bike Manawatu events, normal road rules will apply and a full rider briefing confirming the event rules will be provided to all riders prior to the start of each race.

This is an amazing oppourtunity for all year 7 and 8 riders. All you need to do is turn up and ride as many Wednesday night time trials and track meetings (club track racing and road bikes on track count, but we will only give you points for one track event each week). If the event is cancelled by the organiser, no points will be awarded for that particular event.

So make sure you attend as many of the following dates as possible…

TT-  Wednesday 13/10, 21/10, 28/10, 4/11, 11/11, 18/11, 25/11

Track- Sunday 18/10, 25/10, 1/11, 8/11, 15/11, 22/11, 29/11

Winner will be announced at the final track meet before Christmas on 20th December 2015.

The ride and lunch will be with Robert Stannard (Junior Road World’s TT and Road race), Michaela Drummond (Junior World Team Pursuit World Champion) and Campbell Stewart (Double Junior World Champion). So don’t miss this great oppourtinity to ride and lunch with some of the best junior riders in this region!

GOOD LUCK!!
