Manawatu Schools Cycling Event

Bone Collector
Registration 8.15am – Please meet at the Triangle outside the Ashhurst Library
Race briefing 8.40am – all riders must attend
Start Time / First Grade off at 9:00am

How it works:
Teams will be made up with 3 riders – 1 x Senior, 1 x Intermediate, 1 x Junior rider. (Generally this is Year11/12/13, Year 9/10and Year 7/8.)
You may be put up or down a grade to make team numbers or capabilities even.
Senior riders start and ride the first lap and then collects an Intermediate rider. The two of them then collect their junior rider for the last lap.
This is a great opportunity for young and older riders to mix, meet and have some fun together.
Format for those that don’t know. Teams comprising a senior, intermediate & a junior rider will be randomly selected on Sunday morning.
Senior rider starts and rides a lap and picks up the intermediate rider and they complete 2nd lap together and pick up their junior rider completing lap 3 as a team. First team home gets bragging rights.
There is a short section of gravel but totally ridable – don’t bring your good race wheels and gear restrictions are not in play for this ride.
No numbers required but REAR lights are!!!!

Round 3 National Track Series Event for 2022

NTS round #3
Wilson Hannon -first NTS this season went out there and impressed. Footing it with the best including the junior worlds team members coming away with some very inspiring results. Including 2nd the points race and 2nd in the Kerin.
Ben Murphy continues to show his fantastic starting speed in the sprint events. He matched up against some great riders and had some incredibly close races.
Leighton Riley also in the sprint showed his skills in the match sprints on day 2 with some close (literally) racing with Leighton coming away with wins.
Zachary Woollett changed to endurance this time after competing in sprint last NTS. He showed great speed and can mix it with the best. This is so pleasing as he moves up gearing for the next age group.
Pyper Newton also moves up age groups soon and also upped the gearing in the sprint group. As the youngest female rider and only U15 she had incredibly tough competition. Heaps of learning had, she has the speed.
NTS 3 continues to be an excellent learning opportunity for or riders. They have workshops to learn the craft of cycling and improving their skills and a well run competition offering sometimes rarely run races. All our riders had a go a Maddison’s and we are hoping they can show there skills off in the new season
Well done.
Well done.

BM Track Membership 2021-2022 Season

BM Track Membership 2021-2022 Season

Welcome to our returning and new Rookie riders for the 2022 Bike Manawatu track season.

For those new to the sport, the BM Track season offers a good mix of competitive and fun racing in a social and supportive environment.  We cater to ages and abilities as the racing is split into grades based on their previous experience (our younger Junior riders are split into their A and B categories).

The track season is run over the summer months (October to April) at Johnston Park Velodrome in Feilding every Sunday afternoon and a few Thursday’s sessions in between.

Each week’s racing will be different with a racing timetable released a few days prior.  On race day, please ensure to bring your helmet, gloves, shoes, and plenty of water.  You will be assigned your own race number at the start of the season, and this must be worn to each meeting or else you will be unable to compete.

For those of you that are interested in hiring a track bike from the BM Track Committee, the cost is $80 plus a refundable bond of $60.  These can be requested when you complete the BM Track Membership form. Full terms and conditions will be given to you at the bike fitting.

There are two forms of licenses available to purchase for cycling:

BM Social Membership

  • All riders wishing to ride this track season MUST HOLD THIS MEMBERSHIP
  • For those riders only wishing to ride at BM club events. You cannot race at other regions club events, regionally or national events.
  • It does not provide insurance of any kind.

NZ Cycling Licence

  • This is an additional license you can purchase via Cycling NZ which allows you to compete at BM clubs’ events AND other regional club or national events
  • If you are wish to attempt any records you will require a NZ Cycling Licence
  • When filling out the NZ Cycling License form, select Ride Club, Ride Youth or Race options depending on your requirements
  • All Cycling NZ Membership comes with their own endorsed discount programme and insurance.
