McDonalds sponsors track rider of the week for a 2nd year

We are very fortunate to have Dan Pitchforth, at McDonalds Feilding and Taihape behind track cycling for a second consecutive season.

At the end of each road bikes on track and track racing each week, a rider will be awarded a Big Mac voucher and a drink bottle. What better reward then a stop into McDonalds in Feilding on your way home from track? We think it is well deserved!

BIKE MANAWATU Track meeting

SUNDAY 6TH NOVEMBER 2016

Venue: Johnston Park Feilding

ROAD BIKES: Warm up 1:15pm, racing 1:30pm sharp to 2:30pm

TRACK BIKES: Warm up 2:30pm, first Race 3:00pm sharp

Track bike programme: H/C = Handicap Race

A Grade – 3 lap H/C
B Grade – 3 lap H/C
Masters Grade – 3 Lap H/C
U15 B Grade – 5 lap Scratch races, neutral till race on whistle. 2 bunches.
U15 A Grade – 5 lap Scratch races, neutral till race on whistle. 2 bunches.
U17 Grade – 4 lap scratch (2 bunches)
A & B Grades – 6 lap H/C
Masters Grade – Miss and out race
U15 B Grade – 3 lap H/C
U15 A Grade – 4 lap H/C
U17 Grade – Teams event, 2000m
A Grade – Miss and out or sprint event
Women Grade - 6 lap H/C
U15 B Grade – 6 lap handicap race
U15 A Grade – 8 lap handicap race
U17 Grade – 10 lap handicap race

What a great day we had for the opening meeting of the 2016-17 Track season and the weather was surprisingly good for Labour Day. There was a good attendance for the young riders using road bikes on the track.

The club created a great record when we has over 50 track bikes all ready to race, the biggets being in the under 15 grade which augurs well for the future.

All the ‘rookie’ riders adapted very well to the track and rode safely which was really good – well done!

Thanks to all the helpers who certainly ensured the day ran smoothly. Special thanks to Marty Baker and Davie Hoskins who have replaced all the numbers on our lap board – they look very professional!

The one lap time trial (standing start) competition got off to a good start. We will ne running 2-3 more rounds over the season with $250 of prize money up for grabs. Everyone has a chance of winning as the dollars are for the riders that improve his/her time by the most from the first round, by the greatest amount.

It was a great day for the Ainsworth’s, with Darcy being picked by Kate as the rider of the day and Hamish was picked as the rider of the day for road bikes on track. Jack Carson’s won the 5 lap U15B’s handicap and takes the $10 for first place.

TRACK POLICY: If there are any changes in rider grades it must be approved by the track committee.

The updated track programme leading up to Christmas can be found here. Take special note to our carnival on 11 December, as this will be a great 1^st carnival of the season, and a change to win some good money.
