Wednesday Night time trials week 7 results and prizegiving notice

Despite the current ‘cost of living challenges’ facing all community events, Bike Manawatu is 100% committed to ensuring the 51st year of the Novice Tour – once again provides a safe, fun, competitive cycle racing event.

We will adopt a high-quality assured approach in implementing the Local Roading Authority’s/Cycling New Zealand’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) standards which ensure best practices and rider and spectator safety.

If the level of community funding secured is not sufficient to contract in external road management service providers with the ability to stop/go traffic, the Novice Tour will proceed on a ‘local club racing’ model, whereby our team of trained/experienced road marshals will, where necessary, pause racing in order to give way to traffic and ensure rider safety.

Although funding  external road management services with the ability to stop/go traffic is ideal, if this is not feasible – we are confident that the event’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) will provide a competitive, fair, enjoyable and importantly safe racing environment.

Irrespective of which model of traffic management/racing is finalised, as with all CNZ/Bike Manawatu events, normal road rules will apply and a full rider briefing confirming the event rules will be provided to all riders prior to the start of each race.

Well the results probably tell it all. It was again slightly windy and those people that had consistently improved on their times each week were not able to achieve the same results this week. Or perhaps they all just had had a hard week. Regardless any person on 8 points or more really needs to come next week as they could be in the running for prizemoney which is awarded to financial members of the club including new members.

Announced in the race briefing was that next week is the prizegiving and to bring a plate. Sorry for the error in judgement – as most of the people ride out this is impractical so food and drink will be supplied.

You have to be there to collect prizemoney. If not collected on the night it will be returned to the prize pool for next years competition.

Thanks again to our helpers on the night – Kirsty on the turn, Stu for counting down at the start and timing at the finish, Lenka for recording at the start and calling numbers at the finish and Michelle for recording at the finish.  I am sure I have forgotten to thank someone in the course of doing my results over the weeks but my thanks go to all of you that come and support this event.

Great to have some new people coming along to test themselves. I hope you enjoyed your time trial and we will see you back for the prizegiving. There will be a number of spot prizes up for grabs also.
