If you’ve not already done so, we trust you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to enter the 2020 event!

We’re very excited about the way the Slicks and Stones is developing. It’s starting to become known as a ‘must do’ for both aspiring and ‘mature’ cyclists, and with Westpac coming onboard as our key sponsor for the next three years, we can see it growing from strength to strength. Alongside the Gravel and Tar UCI races which for 2020, have attracted over 20 teams of elite men’s and women’s cyclists from around the world, the Westpac Slicks and Stones too is poised to become another iconic New Zealand cycling event.

Just to give you a quick update, here are some of the things planned for the 24th and 25th January:

· Gravel and Tar Men’s Classic (for elite international and NZ male cyclists)

· Gravel and Tar La Femme (for elite international and NZ female cyclists)

· Westpac Slicks and Stones (for keen amateur cyclists)

· Family Fun Ride (for families along the Manawatu Riverbank Pathway) – 10am to 12.30pm

· Memorial Park ‘Over the Line’ festival (live music, food stalls, children’s entertainment etc.) starting at 12 noon and continuing into the early evening,

and on Friday afternoon/evening of the 24th January:

· a series of three Criteriums around the Railway Reserve in Palmerston North (two for young cyclists U115 & U19, and the third for elite women).

So, in addition to the Westpac Slicks and Stones, there’ll be plenty of activity happening in the Manawatu on the 24th and 25th Jan. Please encourage your fellow cyclists to enter the Slicks and Stones, and if you have supporters following, there’ll be easy to access vantage points along the parcours, plus there’s the ‘Over the Line’ festival at the finish at Memorial Park to enjoy.

Oh, and in addition to a number of worthwhile spot prizes for the Westpac Slicks and Stones. we are currently negotiating to have a quite substantial spot prize for one lucky entrant – more on this shortly. Keep up to date with all the news on Facebook.

PS: You can enter the Slicks and Stones here.
