Some of you may have heard of or ridden the Source to Sea Cycle Challenge from St Arnaud to Westport. The main event is a 100-mile ride with a descending nature, from the alpine regions of Nelson Lakes National Park, to the Tasman Sea at Carters Beach
We believe the event is exceptional unique in that 100-miles is a significant milestone for all cyclists, and the Buller River just happens to 100-miles long, with the added bonus of having a sealed road along the river banks. It is a special and memorable cycling experience and we wish to share it with as many people as possible.
The event also caters for 2 & 3 person relay teams so riders can opt to ride, 50km, 60km, 100km or the full 160km. Details on website.
The event started in 2007 and has been run five times catering between 350 and 750 riders.
For 2013 we are introducing an offer to New Zealand cycling clubs that will serve as a fund raising opportunity.
For every club rider participating we’ll donate $ 5.00 to his or her club.
After the event all you need to do is let us know who amongst your 2013 financial club members took part in the Source to Sea, and we’ll make the donation.
Based on previous events some clubs could easily receive $1,000.00 with strong membership presentation.
On top of this there is an Ultegra equipped MERIDA SCULTURA road cycle as a spot prize with a rrp of just on $4000.00
And at the end of June, July, August, September & October one of those entered will be drawn out and that lucky entrant will win a pair of MAXXIS COURCHEVEL tyres worth $280.00
FIREWORKS! Boom, bang, wow – you know what we mean. This year following the cycle event there will be a Fireworks extravaganza at the Carters Beach Domain (finish line of event). It’ll start about 8:00pm so riders will have time to attend the awards, shower up and have a meal before returning to the beach for the show.
Run as a community event, it is $5.00 per person, $10.00 for a family, but Source to Sea riders are free, it’s included in the race entry.
