Pedal 4 Pleasure – 28 March 2021

Despite the current ‘cost of living challenges’ facing all community events, Bike Manawatu is 100% committed to ensuring the 51st year of the Novice Tour – once again provides a safe, fun, competitive cycle racing event.

We will adopt a high-quality assured approach in implementing the Local Roading Authority’s/Cycling New Zealand’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) standards which ensure best practices and rider and spectator safety.

If the level of community funding secured is not sufficient to contract in external road management service providers with the ability to stop/go traffic, the Novice Tour will proceed on a ‘local club racing’ model, whereby our team of trained/experienced road marshals will, where necessary, pause racing in order to give way to traffic and ensure rider safety.

Although funding  external road management services with the ability to stop/go traffic is ideal, if this is not feasible – we are confident that the event’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) will provide a competitive, fair, enjoyable and importantly safe racing environment.

Irrespective of which model of traffic management/racing is finalised, as with all CNZ/Bike Manawatu events, normal road rules will apply and a full rider briefing confirming the event rules will be provided to all riders prior to the start of each race.

Pedal 4 Pleasure – 28 March 2021

The Marton Rotary’s Pedal 4 Pleasure is returning to Marton this March and is excited to be running alongside Marton’s Harvest Festival.
Pedal 4 Pleasure is now becoming an iconic event and what started out as a fun day out for a few friends has developed into a fantastic day for all. Last year the event was cancelled due to COVID-19, but charging on, we are building on the great success of 2019 which saw more than 180 participants cycling the beautiful Rangitīkei country roads.  The funds raised from this event help Marton Rotary support local youth, and wellbeing initiatives . “The event is an awesome opportunity for families, novice riders and competitive people to take part in a wonderful bike ride around the scenic Rangitīkei.” Your non-riding friends and family can enjoy the day at the icon Marton Harvest Festival with loads of quality stalls, food, a beer tent and live entertainment. Don’t fret if your riding and want to enjoy Harvest Festival too, they’re open until 4pm. Marton town turns it on with loads of local support in spot prizes including the Major Spot Prize of furniture from Wards Furniture Ltd!

Pedal 4 Pleasure offers rides for all abilities from the challenging 82 km with a 1000 metres of climbing, the 40 km scenic ride and the 18 km fun ride offering a country morning tea stop on the way which is perfect for all ages. E-bikes are welcome on all rides.

All prizes are by draw. Every entrant is eligible for the Major Spot Prize of furniture from Wards Furniture Ltd. And due to our generous community there are heaps of other spot prizes too!!!
