Jesse Sergent says having an indoor velodrome in Manawatu would attract more people in the region to take up cycling.
The Team RadioShack rider got into the sport as a 12-year-old in Feilding after watching races at his nearby club.
Now 22, and in the top echelon of pursuit riders in the world, Sergent said he would like to see Palmerston North win the right to be the venue for the proposed indoor velodrome.
