Information for 1st track meet

Despite the current ‘cost of living challenges’ facing all community events, Bike Manawatu is 100% committed to ensuring the 51st year of the Novice Tour – once again provides a safe, fun, competitive cycle racing event.

We will adopt a high-quality assured approach in implementing the Local Roading Authority’s/Cycling New Zealand’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) standards which ensure best practices and rider and spectator safety.

If the level of community funding secured is not sufficient to contract in external road management service providers with the ability to stop/go traffic, the Novice Tour will proceed on a ‘local club racing’ model, whereby our team of trained/experienced road marshals will, where necessary, pause racing in order to give way to traffic and ensure rider safety.

Although funding  external road management services with the ability to stop/go traffic is ideal, if this is not feasible – we are confident that the event’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) will provide a competitive, fair, enjoyable and importantly safe racing environment.

Irrespective of which model of traffic management/racing is finalised, as with all CNZ/Bike Manawatu events, normal road rules will apply and a full rider briefing confirming the event rules will be provided to all riders prior to the start of each race.

Cost- $15.00 cash for whole track season (or $10.00 before Christmas and $10.00 after), we encourage you to pay the $15.00 on the first track meet as it is cheaper for you and a lot easier for us.

At registration you will give your contact information, sign the wavier form, receive your number and pay for the season. Before you ride you must sign the wavier form, pay and receive your number.

You will be responsible for looking after your number for the season and bringing it to each meet, if you don’t have your number it is very hard to record results, therefore No number = no result for that night.

For the first meeting we will not post a programme, and it will be posted on the day when we know numbers and what grades we need to offer. We do know that for this first meet we have many new riders, our two Junior World Champions Michaela and Campbell and maybe some newly crowned Oceania Champions calling in, so it is a track meet that you don’t want to miss!

Points trophies- Each race of the season has points up for grabs, with trophies for the winner of each age group at the end of the season.

Results- Will be posted here and updated each week, within a few days of racing.

Volunteers- We need to establish a list for the start of the season, even if you helped out last season please email Kate to confirm your availability for this season. More information on volunteers here.
