Tasman Wheelers Cycling Club are organizing another Mighty Masters Cycling Festival due to popular request from many Masters cyclists from around NZ.

This event held around Nelson/Tasman has something for everyone over the period of 24-28 Feb 2021.

Old Manawatu River Bridge Survey

Old Manawatu River Bridge

The old bridge over the Manawatu River is due for demolition now that the new bridge over the river and the spillway is complete.
However, the concerns of cyclists are that the new facility is not suitable to ride across as there is not sufficient lane width the ride safely and add to this, there are storm water grates, un-ridable by cyclists every eighty metres or so.

There is a strong push from locals to keep the old bridge and make it available to cyclists, walkers etc to cross the river safely. Once across the river there is a land based cycle way to cross the spillway.

NZTA are asking for input by way of a survey – https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WXNS87S 

Even if you are unlikely to ride across the bridge but support the idea of a safe cycle way on State Highway 1 please complete the survey to that end.

On behalf of Bike Manawatu we would like to say a big thank you to all of our amazing Sponsors, Riders and Volunteers who have joined us for a great albeit challenging year of cycling.

We thank all of our Sponsors & Grant Funders who have supported us over the past 12 months – Thank You ❤️

Our Volunteers, each and everyone of you who have helped in many ways over various races and events, we couldnt do it without you. – We appreciate you

We now take a short break to re-charge and spend time with our friends and whanau over the festive season.
We are back in 2021 with a variety of races on offer for all.
Remember Slicks & Stones is on Saturday 23rd January then we have our first club race on Sunday 31st January in Cheltenham
