WCNI ITT Champs – Volunteers needed

WCNI Time trial champs and Road champs are being held the 9th and 10th of April.

Helpers are urgently required for Sunday for the road race.

Tina Noble, the secretary for Wanganui has said that if they do not get enough people to act as marshals they will have to cancel the road race.

If you are able to help please contact Tina direct via the Wanganui Cycling website.

Roadcode for Cyclists

The NZTA have The official New Zealand code for cyclists.

They describe it as a “user-friendly guide to New Zealand’s traffic law and safe driving practices” for cyclists.

Why not take a look.  It covers many topics, including bunch riding and “the car door zone”

Cycling is a great way to get around and a sport enjoyed by more than a million New Zealanders.

If only three in 100 people took up cycling instead of driving, New Zealand would save more than 1 billion dollars per year!

Cycling is the pollution solution that improves your health, increases your productivity at school or work, and enhances the safety of your community.

Every time you ride, you have an opportunity to help encourage a cycle friendly culture. Don’t underestimate the impact that a wink or a smile and a wave can have on motorists’ attitudes to cyclists.

Practice your skills and take care of your bike following this code, and enjoy a lifetime of cycling through beautiful New Zealand.

Update on WCNI Road champs and ITT Champs

Hi All

First of all, my sincere apologies for the absolute lack of communication regarding the WCNI events:

I think the best process for me and everyone at your end is to (if you already haven’t) – register riders on-line through our website…

Directions:
www.cyclingwanganui.org.nz
Click on the Tab: WCNI Champs 2011
Click on the Tab: Time Trial (for race details)
Click on the Tab: TT Entry (enter all your riders, or you could ask your riders to do this for you)
and/or
Click on the Tab: Road Race (for race details)
Clike on the Tab: RR Entry (enter all your riders, or you could ask your riders to do this for you)

Once entries close off (5 April 5:00pm)  I will send each club who has enrolled and the total amount due $

As I have had problems collecting money from riders who attended the WCNI track champs and due to personal commitments on the weekend of these champs I will be unable to collect your money therefore all riders from Bike Manawatu will need to pay on the day.

On the day of racing we will get all the riders (or parents as appropriate to age group) to sign the Waiver for the entire 2 day event (this is a lot easier than dealing with lots of ‘paper’ registration entries.

We still require assistance with officials etc on the day including timers etc, (especially on second day for the Road Race) so if you are able to assist or know of some parents who don’t mind, can you please let me know.

If you require any more information please do not hesitate to contact me 063446187 or 027 2847889 or just flick me an e-mail.

Kind Regards
Tina
WCC Secretary

ps:  I am updating the Website tonight…  with some more information so hopefully will cover most things…
