BikeManawatu Track Cycling – Results for 2nd Nov 2010

It would be impossible to want for a better night to open the track season than the one presented tonight. The wind was on leave the sun was visible the sky was clear the track was hot and then when we thought things couldn’t get any better he arrived. Like the morning sun over the horizon or cavalry over the ridge Jesse Sergent appeared resplendent in Radioshack skinsuit, heads turned conversations stopped and we all new we had front row seats for the best show in town.

The riders played their part by providing the spectators with fair, clean racing and the crowds favourite- tight photo finishes. We had 23 cyclists including one Olympian one multiple world woman’s masters champion and a former Australian representative. Is this the biggest sporting secret in the Manawatu?

Jesse rode in the spirit of the evening and relished in his responsibility of being an inspiration for the wide eyed young cyclists. He did not go out to win and dominate the races but rode among and with the riders, now and then he gave us all a glimpse of the power and talent he possess.
