Bike Manawatu Track Carnival – Sunday 22nd November 2020 Results

Despite the current ‘cost of living challenges’ facing all community events, Bike Manawatu is 100% committed to ensuring the 51st year of the Novice Tour – once again provides a safe, fun, competitive cycle racing event.

We will adopt a high-quality assured approach in implementing the Local Roading Authority’s/Cycling New Zealand’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) standards which ensure best practices and rider and spectator safety.

If the level of community funding secured is not sufficient to contract in external road management service providers with the ability to stop/go traffic, the Novice Tour will proceed on a ‘local club racing’ model, whereby our team of trained/experienced road marshals will, where necessary, pause racing in order to give way to traffic and ensure rider safety.

Although funding  external road management services with the ability to stop/go traffic is ideal, if this is not feasible – we are confident that the event’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) will provide a competitive, fair, enjoyable and importantly safe racing environment.

Irrespective of which model of traffic management/racing is finalised, as with all CNZ/Bike Manawatu events, normal road rules will apply and a full rider briefing confirming the event rules will be provided to all riders prior to the start of each race.

Bike Manawatu Track Carnival – Sunday 22nd November 2020 Results

Carnival Today.
We had it all today, rain delayed the start  by over  30 minutes  , and rain again  after lunch break caused abandonment  of meeting after 3 event’s.
Although.,we had the lowest number of entries seen in the Open  Meeting  in recent  years, we saw some exciting  racing , and  of a very high  standard in the A Grade.
In  the Junior A grade new rider, Leighton  Riley surprised  by wining the Points race, – well done!

In the Premiere event  of the day, the 200 dollar  AEC 5 lap H/C   Wheel  Race, Harrison  Craw road superbly  to drop the rest  of the  back markers  and caught the front marker  Ashliegh Gunn  with less than a lap to go, and went  on to take  a well deserved  victory.
The  front  markers Jess Coxon and Fallon Roy teamed well to take first and second respectively in The B grade 100 dollar  Base  Solutions 5 lap H/C Wheel Race,  holding  off the rest  of the field.
THANKS  to all the Officials  who did a superb  job.
Look  forward  to better  weather next Sunday,  racing starts at 1pm.
Ian
