What are Mike Thompson and Toshi Yamauchi up to?

Wrapping up warm to cycle this time of year is part of the sport but with the unpredictable weather around at the moment it is hard to keep rides regular when, rain, wind and below 5 degree temperatures are with us.

Spare a thought for those members who are training hard for their upcoming events and must carry on regardless of the weather.
Two such riders are Mike Thompson and Toshiaki Yamauchi who have qualified for the ICU Gran Fondo World Series Finals in Perth Australia on the 1st of September.
They are competing in age group road races and time trails which will put them to the test.
Next time you see them out and about on their bikes please look after them and wish them all the best.
If you are interested in catching up on our Bike Manawatu Members and Manawatu Schools riders successes, check out Facebook pages:Bike Manawatu, Manawatu Schools and for our BM New Zealand representatives check out Cycling New Zealand’s Website.
It’s great to follow members and by liking them on facebook they will appreciate your support.
The Tour de France continues to be amazing inspiration to watch and soon the Olympic Games will take over for those sports mad members who can’t get off the couch.
We know who you are.

Senior Riders wanted for Trust House Cycling Series

From Sam Gardner:

I am keen to get a local Manawatu Elite team into the North Island team series run around various venues near Masterton, see

http://www.cyclingseriesnz.co.nz/

It would be a chance for young senior riders to race against the best riders in the country, and gain experience and hopefully get in the mix.

I have 7 riders already interested who can compete at that level, and i can have a maximum of 12 riders on the team, so if you’re a senior keen to race at Elite level and haven’t yet got a team for the series please check you can make most of the dates and send me an email to sam@bikeboxrental.co.nz with a short list of your results.

I am also looking for either another joint main sponsor alongside my business www.bikeboxrental.co.nz or several co-sponsors to help get this project off the ground.

The team registration is $600, and a quote for 1 set each of custom printed kit for 10 riders is about $1900. So $2500 in total to be split however.

This kit would undoubtably be used for training by all the riders too, and in other local events, and I’m sure with the riders keen at present we would get plenty of exposure on the national cycling sites on the internet, in local press and in national cycling print press too. I’ll be aiming to win the national cyclocross champs in this kit in a months time if it is printed in time.

I have got the time to do all the organising of kit, race entries, recruiting riders etc, what i need from other co-sponsors is hard cash and an EPS or Jpeg of your company logo, placement on the kit can be negotiated depending on your financial contribution. For more details contact me on sam@bikeboxrental.co.nz .
