Tour of America’s Dairyland – UPDATE

10 days of hectic crit racing at TOAD wrapped up on Sunday

The interesting thing with crit racing or this event in particular is that some riders are there for the full 10 days of racing while others come and go for selected days. The bigger teams bring in fresh legs to target the stage win or support their GC riders. Fresh legs ripping the field with some tired legs equals lots of crashes and much more dynamic racing with the break surviving on 3 of the last 4 days.

Friday & Saturday were tough days for Ethan being blocked on the barriers in the finale on 1 day and dead legs the other. 2nd on GC stretched back out and the buffer to 4th cut to 2 points. Day 10 would be a battle.

It didn’t start well with a visit to the floor in the first 10 mins and another fall later in the race. The late break of 4 stayed away and Butcher Box had a full team lead out for their rider – 4th on GC. Ethan surfed their train and took the “field” sprint for 5th.

With the 2nd place GC rider cracking and not scoring that was enough to move Ethan to 2nd on GC.

It was a great week for the young New England Devo team with Vivian Rindisbacher & Alexander Chrystall both taking 2nd in stages and Alexander 9th on GC and the whole team working hard against some well seasoned crit teams.
