Jesse Sergent won the silver medal in the men’s 4000m individual pursuit at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Apeldoorn, Netherlands a repeat from his world championships performance in Copenhagen last year.
The ride off for gold was a copy of the Commonwealth Games final where he also came up against top qualifier Jack Bobridge. It was the same tactics for the slightly built Australian, who used his speed to open a telling gap of two seconds within the first kilometre. Bobridge clocked 4:21.141 to claim the title with Jesse Sergent two and a half seconds back taking the Silver medal.
