BIKE MANAWATU CLUB HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIPS

ASHHURST – SADDLE ROAD

DATE, LOCATION & ENTRY DETAILS

Bike Manawatu Club Hill Climb Championships will be held on Saturday 19th November 2016. The event is also open to non-club members to enter, their results will not count toward club results.

Registration will be from 1.30PM in Salisbury Street, Ashhurst. The event will commence at 2.00pm from the top of Salisbury St cycling up Saddle Road finishing in front of the windfarm gates.

Entry fees: Club members $5.00 and non-members $10.00.

Entry can be made via Bike Manawatu’s Secretary or late entries made on the day from 1.30pm at the Salisbury Street, Ashhurst start line.

This event is the Club Hill Climb Championships and is open to all ages and grades.

MASTERS GRADES HILL CLIMB WINNERS & OVERALL HILL CLIMB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Club members of the Masters age groups who enter and complete the event will have their actual times used determine the Masters Age Grades Hill Climb winners for

female and male. To determine the Masters Overall Hill Climb Champions a time handicap is applied according to age to determine the Overall Hill Climb Champions

for both female and male.

MASTERS OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Hill Climb results, along with other qualifying events results for 2016/17 Masters events, ie ITT and Track will be used to determine 2016/17 Overall Masters

Champions, female & male.

$100 PRIZE TO CLUB 44 YR + AGE MASTERS CYCLISTS

In 2002 the late Roger Nevatt entered the Manawatu Masters Cycling Club Hill Climb Championship and set an exceptional record, competing in the Masters 44 – 49 age

group and he set a time of 14 mins 24 secs from Salisbury St Ashhurst to the top of Saddle Road in front of the windfarm gates. This time has not been bettered by any

club masters age cyclist in club events over the last 14 years. Ian Gray is offering a prize of $100 to any Club Masters cyclist 44 years of age or older to beat Roger’s

time.

Location – Johnston Park, Feilding.

Parking – The top Rugby ground beside the track will be open for you to park on. This is the closest parking.

Registration – Is in the club rooms. These are upstairs behind the big grandstand. Come see the team at registration between 11:45 and 12:30pm to receive your number, sign the wavier form (if you haven’t already), pay $5.00.

Prizegiving will be held straight after the last race. Make sure you are there to receive your prize money and spot prizes.

Food & Drink We will have sausages in bread and drinks for sale so bring some coins to full your belly and support our local riders.

Rules UCI and CyclingNZ track racing rules and apply and will be enforced by our Commissaries. Riders are to ride in their 2017 LICENCE CATEGORY to assist WCNI selectors thinking towards nationals.

Maximum Rollout – U15 6.00m, U17 7.00m.

Sponsors – We are very fortunate to have a team of people backing track cycling in our region. Please take your time to take note of our supporters on the sponsors board at the track on Sunday, including AEC engineering and Laser Plumbing.

Notable riders – It is no secret that BikeManawatu has some of the top track riders in NZ. Come and find out how they do it.

Volunteers – We have many people helping out, we are very grateful to these people so please give them the upmost respect.

Cancellation – If the weather restricts us from racing on Sunday a call will be made and posted on the ‘BikeManawatu Track Cycling’ Facebook group and the BikeManawatu Facebook page.

Next meeting (20th November) we will have the 2nd round of the 1 lap TT competition. There is $250 sponsorship for this competition over the season. Only the riders who rode the first round on 24 October will be eligible for prizemoney. The aim of the competition is to be the rider in your grade that beats its original time by the biggest margin over the season.

McDonalds sponsors track rider of the week for a 2nd year

We are very fortunate to have Dan Pitchforth, at McDonalds Feilding and Taihape behind track cycling for a second consecutive season. 

At the end of each road bikes on track and track racing each week, a rider will be awarded a Big Mac voucher and a drink bottle. What better reward then a stop into McDonalds in Feilding on your way home from track? We think it is well deserved!
