2014 Club Road Nationals

Despite the current ‘cost of living challenges’ facing all community events, Bike Manawatu is 100% committed to ensuring the 51st year of the Novice Tour – once again provides a safe, fun, competitive cycle racing event.

We will adopt a high-quality assured approach in implementing the Local Roading Authority’s/Cycling New Zealand’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) standards which ensure best practices and rider and spectator safety.

If the level of community funding secured is not sufficient to contract in external road management service providers with the ability to stop/go traffic, the Novice Tour will proceed on a ‘local club racing’ model, whereby our team of trained/experienced road marshals will, where necessary, pause racing in order to give way to traffic and ensure rider safety.

Although funding  external road management services with the ability to stop/go traffic is ideal, if this is not feasible – we are confident that the event’s ‘Safe Traffic Management System’ (STMS) will provide a competitive, fair, enjoyable and importantly safe racing environment.

Irrespective of which model of traffic management/racing is finalised, as with all CNZ/Bike Manawatu events, normal road rules will apply and a full rider briefing confirming the event rules will be provided to all riders prior to the start of each race.

With the cycling season kicking into gear, one event you may want to think about riding at the end of the season is the BikeNZ Club Road Nationals.

This event is targeted towards club riders, giving them the opportunity to compete in age group categories in the individual Time Trial and/or Road Race.

The 2014 event will be held in Cambridge starting on 1 May 2014. If you are thinking of riding this event, you can register for updates at the following link

The Dynamo Cycling Club is organising  the Club National Road Championship in Cambridge 1st to 4th May 2014.

One of the key issues is riders getting the info about the event.

We are building a new event web site (should be complete in about 3 weeks).

What we want riders to do is to sign up to the Nationals Newsletter, that way if they are interested in competing they will continues to get information direct as it is available, things like, course, programme etc.

We will obviously still send info to clubs as well, but by having riders sign up they will be able to get the info they want direct from the web site or by a direct email to us.

I hope it will help keep people informed with what is going on with the champs.

If you could send this link to your BikeNZ Club Members so they can sign up now.
