MMCCThe Manawatu Masters club is celebrating 15 years of recreational cycling in the Manawatu.

Have you thought about giving Track Cycling ago?  Below are some reasons why you might like track cycling.

Do you love time trialling on the road?  You will most likely ride a very good pursuit.

For riders new to track cycling and a bit cautious, the Pursuit and Time Trial enable you to ride on the track without others rider around until your confidence builds.

We got a very brief mention in the Manawatu Standard recently. On 20th September the following article appeared. If you read the complete article you will spot that we are making news in the Manawatu.

The Women's Tour of NZ is again returning to the Manawatu in 2011. The race will take place from 23 February to 27 February .

Stage 2 starts in Masterton at 10am on Thursday 24th and ends in Palmerston North after going over the Pahiatua Track.

The following day there are 2 stages. The first is 120km. Riders will start in Palmerston North and head toward Ashhurst where they will complete 4 laps of the Colyton Rd, Taonui Rs, Reids Line East Rd, Watershed Rd circuit. At the end of the 4th lap they will head back to Palmerston North and the finish line on Napier Rd.

The second stage for Friday is a criterium, around the Railway land, which is Pitt St, Main St, Cook St and Church St. The roads will be closed and planning is underway to  hold a couple of preliminary races for under 17 age group and a graded race. On Saturday the 5th stage leaves Palmerston North at 10.30am and heads back to Masterton.

Sport Manawatu are planning some exciting events around the Tour.

So put a note in your diary and come out and watch some spectacular racing by some top women athletes.
